Super Heroes Smoothie
MAKES 2 SERVINGS
We could all stand to feel like a super(s)hero, especially in the morning, right? You taste the sweetness of the berries and get the benefit of all the amazing anti-inflammatory ingredients that feed your body and brain—and it tastes forkin’ great. Double bonus!
1⁄2 cup fresh or frozen berries
1 cup baby spinach
2 tablespoons natural almond or peanut butter (or sunflower seed butter, for a nut-free option)
2 cups homemade almond milk (soak 1 cup raw
almonds in 5 cups cold water overnight; blend until smooth in a high-powered blender; strain if desired)
2 frozen bananas, peel on and stem and end trimmed (see Note)
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
A few drops of liquid stevia 1⁄2 cup ice glass and enjoy!
NOTE: Leaving the peel on the banana means extra nutrients. Just wash them really thoroughly and let them get extra, extra ripe before freezing them or throwing them into the blender.
